How Our Ingredient Safety Scorecard Works
We cross-reference every ingredient in the Revive and Thrive Hair Growth Serum against six key benchmarks for cosmetic safety. This multi-layered approach ensures we meet and exceed safety expectations from regulatory agencies, scientific committees, and consumer watchdogs worldwide. Here’s a closer look at each one.
1. U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
The FDA is the primary regulatory body for cosmetics in the United States. Its list of Prohibited & Restricted Ingredients in Cosmetics outlines substances that are banned or limited for use in personal care products. While this list is a starting point, it is surprisingly short, prohibiting only 11 ingredients outright. We ensure our formula is free of these banned substances, but we believe this is the absolute minimum standard for safety.
2. European Commission's CosIng Database
We look to Europe for a much higher safety benchmark. The European Commission’s Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 was established to ensure a high level of protection for human health. This regulation created CosIng, a public database detailing thousands of ingredients. As of late 2025, CosIng lists over 2,500 banned substances and hundreds more that are restricted. By adhering to CosIng standards, we align our formula with some of the strictest cosmetic safety laws in the world.
3. European List of Known Endocrine Disruptors
Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that can interfere with the body's hormonal systems, potentially leading to health issues. Because our founder is a cancer survivor, we take this category extremely seriously. The European Commission maintains a list of Substances of Very High Concern, investigating ingredients flagged as potential endocrine disruptors. Our policy is simple: we formulate without any ingredients identified as known or suspected endocrine disruptors by this rigorous scientific body.
4. California's Proposition 65
You may have seen warnings on products stating they contain chemicals "known to the state of California to cause cancer." This is due to California's Proposition 65, which requires businesses to provide warnings about significant exposures to listed chemicals. Rather than simply adding a warning label, we take a proactive approach. We formulate the Revive and Thrive Hair Growth Serum to completely avoid ingredients found on the Proposition 65 list.
5. Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR)
The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) is an independent, industry-funded panel of scientists and physicians who assess the safety of ingredients used in cosmetics. Since 1976, their Expert Panel has reviewed thousands of ingredients, publishing their findings in peer-reviewed scientific literature. While the CIR does not have regulatory authority, we use their extensive research as another layer of validation. We only use ingredients that the CIR has determined have sufficient data to be considered safe for their intended use.
6. Environmental Working Group (EWG) Skin Deep® Database
Finally, we consult with one of the most respected industry watchdogs: the Environmental Working Group (EWG). Their Skin Deep® database rates over 136,000 personal care product ingredients on a scale of 1 (best) to 10 (worst) based on potential health concerns. We prioritize ingredients that receive the best possible scores from the EWG, ensuring our formula aligns with the highest standards for consumer health and environmental safety.
